Green Alleys

Summary

Green alleys are designed to help manage storm water, reduce urban heat island effects and conserve energy. Often they include replacement of the existing asphalt with a permeable pavement treatment to allow stormwater runoff in the alley to be either be temporarily retained to delay entry into the storm drain system or allowed to infiltrate and replenish ground water.
