Raised Planter Boxes
Planter boxes are flow-through stormwater treatment facilities adjacent to buildings and disconnected downspouts, which can be used to provide temporary retention during storm events. A raised planter box serves the same function but has the added benefit of providing additional retention volume due to its raised sides. These are ideally suited for areas where underlying soils are not ideal for infiltration and where the retained stormwater will be ultimately discharged to the storm drain system. These systems work well on small sites and can be placed adjacent to buildings.
