Sensors & Monitors
Summary
“Smart” urban infrastructure or machine-to-machine technologies support digital communication across devices (such as sensors or meters) to capture an event (temperature, water flow, etc.) relayed through a network (wireless, wired or hybrid) to an application (software program) that translates the captured event into meaningful information (for example, the location and scale of a leak in the utility line). These systems can improve municipal systems and service by collecting and analyzing data, remotely monitoring and pinpointing problems more efficiently than traditional means.
