Water & Energy Nexus

Summary

The water-energy nexus describes the relationship between how much water is evaporated to generate and transmit energy, and how much energy it takes to collect, clean, move, store, and dispose of water. New technologies are taking advantage of this interdependency and developing new solutions designed to reduce inputs and/or increase outputs of both water and energy systems. For example, ClearCove Systems converts solids captured from wastewater into methane to power onsite activities at a wastewater treatment plant or to be used as clean fuel in local transportation networks.
