Resilient Housing

Summary

Much of New York City’s public housing is built in the flood zone. Resilience measures in these areas can be combined with other objectives: more amenities, housing preservation, jobs and better public space. Capturing all these opportunities, however, requires a level of integration between community groups, the City, NYCHA and other land-owners in the area. The team developed a toolbox for an integrated and comprehensive strategy for the ‘towers-in-the-park’ in order to make these areas more physically resilient, while also achieving the critical social objectives.
